The enormous green frog turned a corner and ran as far down the alley as he could. Unable to see Valarie behind him, all he could hear was her crashing through the alleys in pursuit. Another loud clang echoed through the alley. "Goddammit!" Could be heard as the grey coated Armored Hunter stumbled around the same corner as the frog, slamming into the wall. "Hey frog! I wanna talk to you! Hey Frog!" Valarie excitedly ran after him with her arms out, running after him almost blindly. The frog screamed again and tried his best to get away, but Valarie swooped him up into her arms, giving a big hug. "You're so cool Frog!" Valarie in her armor squeezed the amphibian as he howled in agony at his body being crushed. Valarie dropped him in a shock. "I'm sorry Frog! Did I hurt you?" The kind girl worried as Velvet caught up.

"What the hell did you run out here for?” Velvet asked as she caught her breath.

"It's a goddamn giant Frog! And he can talk!" Valarie pulled the Hunter's Cross from her waist. the armor flaking away into the wind revealing her usual dumb smile.

"Is that so?" The large woman asked, peering around Valarie's shoulder. "Abustus? Is that you?" Velvet asked excitedly.

"Velvy?" The frog croaked out.

"You two know each other?!" Valarie excitedly jumped up and down as the frog waddled around.

"I met Velvy ten years ago when I was still interning as a magical assistant. We got into some adventures didn't we?" The frog explained in his raspy voice, as he adjusted his red ascot and cleared his throat.

"Hell yeah we did, we killed so many teenagers in the woods!" Velvet high fived her friend.

“Then Rosemarie had to come in and ruin all the fun.” The Frog crossed his flimsy arms.

"Oh, you know Rosemarie?" Valarie asked excitedly.

“Yeah, I know her. She hired me as Velvy’s assistant, then fired me after the whole serial murder thing. How do you know her?”

"She tried to sentence me to death for enslaving her daughter, then fell in love with me. It's pretty choice." Valarie winked with a smile to the 5 foot tall frog.

"Ohoho, Valarie. You're too much." The frog laughed with a wave.

"So, Abustus Blue." Velvet leaned in towards the frog. "Why're you spying on us for the Valentines?" The woman's eyes burning yellow.

"I-i-i-it was just a job! I swear! My uncle got me this gig tracking magical signatures, I had no idea it was you, or who hired me!" The frog assured his old friend.

"Uh-huh. Tell us everything." Velvet hissed, her eyes flashing again.

"All I know is this guy Jacky Rifle. He's been my contact. He also sold me some weed, and we kinda became friends, which is his justification for calling me 'BuBear' instead of my real name. We're also discussing opening a detective agency, though that was likely the booze talking." Abustus detailed flatly. Velvet looked to Valarie.

"Jacky Rifle... That name sounds familiar." Valarie whispered under her breath.

"Smiley guy, high ranking member of the Valentine Mafia.
